What is APR?
Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), is the public relations profession’s national post-graduate certification program. APR certifies the PR practitioner’s knowledge of the practice of public relations and is administered by the Universal Accreditation Board.

Who can pursue APR?

Any PRSA member in good standing can take on the challenge of earning accreditation. It is recommended that candidates have at least five years' experience in the full-time practice or teaching of public relations, and have earned either a bachelor's degree in a communication-specific field or equivalent work experience.

What is the APR 4-step process?

  1. Apply to National. Note: PRSA offers a $110 rebate upon completion of the computer-based Exam (CBE).
  2. Submit your completed Readiness Review Questionnaire to your chapter Accreditation Chair.
  3. Sit for and pass your Readiness Review Presentation and Interview.
  4. Take the CBE.

Click here to find out more about the Accreditation Process or contact PRSA Alabama Chapter Accreditation Chair, Stacy Smith, APR, at 205-969-4844 or at stacyasmith@charter.net.
