We can't say for sure that public corruption in Alabama is worse or even more colorful than in other states. We can say that you couldn't make up some of the questionable conduct that has come before the Alabama Ethics Commission in the 12 years Jim Sumner has been the commission's director. These cases can be ridiculous - they can even be hilarious - but they aren't funny when they undermine public trust and overshadow the honorable behavior of other public officials.

As public relations practitioners, we have our own ethical issues, and they're not so different from those faced by public officials. To help us observe PRSA Ethics Month, Jim will draw some parallels between our work and what he sees on the job in Montgomery. An attorney and former lobbyist, Jim served as chief of staff for Lt. Gov. Bill Baxley in the 1980s. You won't want to miss this program as Jim shares his unique perspective on the ethical issues we face every day.
