In this day and age of technology, many companies are utilizing e-newsletters to communicate with their respective audiences. In fact, a 2004 study found that as many as 60 percent of marketers were publishing an e-newsletter.
A targeted, niche-oriented e-newsletter has become an indispensable, cost effective way to improve sales, bolster your corporate image and expand market share according to Norwin A. Merens, managing director of Glenview, IL-based NM Marketing Communications. It can also help promote employee loyalty, increase productivity and disseminate vital information within your organization.
The Nielsen Norman Group research says e-newsletters that are informative, convenient, and timely are often preferred over other media. However, their study found that only 11 percent of newsletters were read thoroughly.
But is your hard work being trumped by spam filters? Did you know at least 17 percent of permission e-mail (including e-newsletters) is getting blocked by spam filters (Source: ReturnPath). While it’s easy to distribute an electronic newsletter, it’s just as easy for your readers to unsubscribe if the content isn’t relevant.
Come to the next PRSA meeting and learn how to maximize your e-newsletter and surveys. Your e-newsletter must satisfy reader needs as well as meeting your corporate goals as an informational and promotional tool. At the same time, you have to make sure people are reading it.
